One-Line Verdict
“The warmest comfort to offer myself when it feels like everyone but me is living a dazzling life.”
Overview
A perpetual aspiring filmmaker who has been preparing for his directorial debut for twenty years. He struggles with feelings of inadequacy, being the only one among his “Group of Eight” friends—who once shared the same dream in college—whose career hasn’t taken off.
He grows close to Byun Eun-ah, a development producer at the film company “Choi Film,” as they comfort each other’s wounds.
The story explores the lives of people who grapple with the question, “Am I a decent person?”—struggling to measure up in terms of character, appearance, and financial status, or desperately trying to become “special” by any means necessary, even if it means self-destruction, when they fail to prove their worth through success.
