King the Land Pensions in Yangpyeong: A Countryside Escape Near Seoul and How to Get There
Did you ever watch King the Land and find yourself drawn less to the glittering hotels and more to a quiet house in the countryside, with trees, a stream and nobody around? If you thought, “I would love to spend a night in a place like that,” this guide is for you.
The good news is that these places are not far away. Three pensions linked to the drama are in Yangpyeong, a county east of Seoul that you can reach by train.
But where do you even start?
Staying in a Korean pension can feel confusing the first time. There is usually no front desk. You often rent an entire house, cook your own barbecue and bring your own groceries. Public transport may stop well short of the door, and most booking pages are only in Korean.
So here is a step-by-step guide: where the three pensions are, how to get there from Seoul and what to know before you go.
The three pensions at a glance
| Pension | Address | Area | Connection to the drama |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yuju Villa (유주별장) | 24 Tonggol-gil, Danwol-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun | Danwol-myeon | Listed as a filming location |
| Maypole House (메이폴하우스) | 97 Tonggol-gil, Danwol-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun | Danwol-myeon | Listed as a filming location |
| Tasha’s Morning (타샤의아침) | 44 Yeonsu-ro 458beon-gil, Yongmun-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun | Yongmun-myeon | Filming location of the final episode |
Filming information comes from fan guides and travel pages rather than official announcements, so details about which scenes were filmed where can differ from source to source.
How to get to Yangpyeong
Yangpyeong is a county east of Seoul, known for the Han River’s two headwaters and green mountains. All three pensions are in Yangpyeong, so the route is similar for each.
By train
- Take the Gyeongui–Jungang Line from central Seoul toward Yangpyeong. One source puts the ride from Seoul Station to Yangpyeong Station at around 50 minutes on faster trains, though it can take over an hour depending on the train and the time of day.
- The nearest major station is Yongmun Station. Some trains stop short of the end of the line, so check the destination shown on the train before you board.
- There is no train station in Danwol-myeon, so from the station you will normally take a taxi or a rental car.
From the airport
- From Incheon Airport, the AREX train to Seoul Station takes about 43 minutes. At Seoul Station, transfer to the Gyeongui–Jungang Line toward Yangpyeong.
- From Gimpo Airport, one source estimates about 1 hour 45 minutes to Yangpyeong by subway and train.
By bus or car
- Intercity buses also run from Seoul to Yangpyeong, with a ride of about an hour and a half according to one source.
- If you drive, allow extra time for weekend traffic.
Check before you go: Train and bus timetables change. Check them on the Korail app, Naver Map or KakaoMap before you set out, and look up the taxi fare and travel time from the station to your pension in the app.
1. Yuju Villa (유주별장)
Address: 24 Tonggol-gil, Danwol-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do In the drama: Listed as a King the Land filming location.
Where it is: The villa is in Danwol-myeon, in the eastern part of Yangpyeong, a quiet village near hills and streams. Tonggol-gil has several spots listed as filming locations, so you can see more than one in a single visit.
How to get there
- By train: Take the Gyeongui–Jungang Line to Yongmun Station, then continue by taxi or rental car.
- By car: The easiest way to reach it from Seoul.
Check before you go: Find out whether overnight stays are possible and how to book by checking a booking site or contacting the owner first. A place listed as a filming location may not accept regular guests.

2. Maypole House (메이폴하우스)
Address: 97 Tonggol-gil, Danwol-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do In the drama: Listed as a King the Land filming location.

Where it is: Maypole House is on the same road as Yuju Villa, so you can visit both together. It sits in a quiet, rural area close to the hills and streams of Danwol-myeon, a world away from the city.
How to get there
- Use the same route as for Yuju Villa: train to Yongmun Station, then taxi or rental car.
Check before you go: As with Yuju Villa, confirm whether stays are available and how to book. When searching on a map app, use the Korean name 메이폴하우스 along with the address.

3. Tasha’s Morning (타샤의아침)
Address: 44 Yeonsu-ro 458beon-gil, Yongmun-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do In the drama: The filming location of the final episode of King the Land.

About the pension: Tasha’s Morning is a private-house pension with a loft-style layout. Each house has a fireplace, its own barbecue area and basic seasonings in the kitchen (chili powder, salt, sesame, pepper, vinegar and cooking oil), so you only need to bring meat and vegetables. Parking is available.
Where it is: The pension is in Yongmun-myeon, close to Yongmun Station. This is also the area of Yongmunsan, a mountain known for its thousand-year-old ginkgo tree and one of Yangpyeong’s best-known sights. Nearby you will find Concrete Jungle (a bakery café), Ruby Forest (a farm experience) and Ohu Ground (a space for rent), as listed on booking platforms.
How to get there
- By train: Take the Gyeongui–Jungang Line to Yongmun Station, then continue by taxi.
- By car: Drive from Seoul and park at the pension.
Good to know: Check-in is at 3 p.m. and check-out is at 11 a.m. If you arrive after 10 p.m., contact the pension in advance. Grilling meat or fish over an open flame inside the house is not allowed, so use the barbecue area. The loft layout needs extra care if you travel with young children.
Check before you go: Pets are only allowed at pensions that permit them, and otherwise you may be refused entry. Read the house rules before you book.

What to know about Korean pensions
- Private houses and barbecue: Many pensions are rented as a whole house, and barbecue is part of the fun. Charcoal and grill fees are usually paid on site.
- Shop first: Pensions in the hills may have no store nearby, so buy food and drinking water before you arrive, either at home or in Yangpyeong town.
- Check-in times: Check-in is usually around 3 p.m. and check-out around 11 a.m. If you will arrive late at night, let the pension know.
- Quiet hours and rules: Keep noise down at night. Indoor smoking is not allowed, and rules for minors vary by pension.
- Booking: Many Korean booking sites are in Korean only. Use a translation app, or look for the pension on international platforms such as Airbnb, Booking.com or Agoda.
- Getting around: Public transport may not reach the door. Plan for a taxi from the station, or ask whether the pension offers pick-up.
- Filming information: Details about where scenes were filmed come from fan guides. If you are visiting for a particular scene, check first.
